AbstractEconomic growth rates in the megalopolis of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing are far higher than in most of Asia tiger economies at any time during the past two decades. Its consumer base, within a 700km radius of Shanghai, is 55 percent larger than Japan's. As major transport and infrastructure projects connect the cities of this corridor, locational advantages will be lost and won. Edward Leman, of investment consultants, Chreod Ltd, explains why today's good locations for factories, office buildings, retail shops and other facilities may be less attractive in coming years.
