| Abstract | In mainland academic studies, terminology is often used that is never found elsewhere. Some terms cause confusion, but others help to explain the uniqueness of the country's "socialist market economy." The significance of Zhu's study, as well as Beijing's tolerance of it, indicates the government is seriously concerned about the social cost to be borne form steering China into a market economy. |
