| Abstract | Professor Yuan Longping flew from the Hunan Hybrid Research Centre in Changsha city in central China to Beijing to receive a HK$100,000 award in January this year. The award, conferred by the Hongkong-based Ho Leung/Ho Lee Foundation, acknowledged Yuan's achievements in developing hybrid rice - known as "China's miracle rice" - with which he has brought about a "green revolution" in rice production. |
