Article TitleTrue slump or gross exaggeration?
Is Part OfHong Kong business ; v.14, no.159, Sep 1995, p.50, +2p., illus.
AbstractIn the first half of 1995, Hong Kong's motor trade suffered a catastrophic slump in car sales. However, if recently released 1995 sales figures (which are encouraging) are anything to go by, the motor industry in Hong Kong appears difficult to understand. This leads one to wonder if there just might have been a certain amount of collusion among motor traders to exaggerate the gravity of their "plight", perhaps in the hope that the government would relent its proposed raising of annual license fees and other charges for private motorists.
