| Abstract | Banking concepts in Hong Kong are changing. These changes will affect us all. According to industry sources, the trend of 1994 suggests that 1995 will be harder for Hong Kong's banking industry. Authorised institutions are likely to face an increasingly competitve environment and the possibility of increased loan-loss provisions. As a result, given the prospects of lower net interest margins, profit growth will depend heavily on improved efficiency and effective cost control and further efforts to diversify into short term financing and low-interest income business. |
