| Abstract | According to Colonel Wang Xiaoming from the headquarters of the PLA General Staff, the entire armed forces - infantry, air force, navy and China's strategic missile force - are engaged in training exercises in the summer heat and, sometimes, downpours. "Training in the hottest and coldest days of the year and in the toughest terrain is our tradition," he says.
