| Abstract | Since China's reforms got underway in 1978, the Pearl River Delta has been a gridlock in the making. The region's manufacturing operations have swelled dramatically, outpacing road construction and the ability of trucks to carry goods in and out of the region. The delays and soaring costs of land transport could cause investors to think twice about setting up facilities in what has long been one of China's most popular destinations for investors. |
