AbstractIt was hours past the last of many deadlines. Finally, though, Chinese and U.S. negotiators emerged with an accord on intellectual property rights (IPR) that averted a potentially nasty trade war. The U.S. had threatened punitive tariffs on imports from China worth more than $1 billion - and Beijing had promised to retaliate.
