| Abstract | This paper calls upon a multisystem approach of simultaneous intervention on both abusive families and the social system. It focuses on the protective function of child abuse which is to maintain the dysfunctional family and/or environmental systems in equilibrium. Four of the abused cases handled by the author are selected and discussed by incorporating the theoretical concepts and techniques of Minuchin's structural family therapy approach. |
