| Abstract | Students from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were surveyed, and the results were compared, to (1) ascertain their ethical beliefs in four computer or information-related situations, i.e., privacy, accuracy, property and accessibility; and (2) determine whether their ethical beliefs are culturally bound. The results and a review of traditional Chinese ethical beliefs indicate that information-related ethnical attitudes of students from all three Chinese societies are not bound by the traditional collectivistic orientation which defines traditional Chinese morality. |
