| Abstract | Hongkong has been something of an oddity in Asia in having generally unrestrained media. Some of Legco's democrats have accused the Chinese-language press of self-censorship over political matters. But it can be also argued that the English-language media have been guilty of blindly supporting the colonial government, fawning over Governor Chris Patten, and taking a generally adversarial approach to the mainland. |
