AbstractOne-third of cases of acute spontaneous subarachnoid haemorrhage in Hong Kong are due to rupture of intracranial aneurysm. The treatment of choice is microsurgical clipping. However, in situations where microsurgical clipping has failed or is not applicable, end ovascular embolisation of the aneurysm is a feasible alternative. The authors have successfully treated three patients with ruptured intracranial aneurysm by embolization using platinum microcoils.
