| Abstract | When the Hongkong Medical Association released its annual survey of doctors' fees last month, it contained few surprises. Private sector price hikes of 10 to 20 per cent were the order of the day, confirming what many Hongkong residents have already found out the hard way: getting ill in Hongkong is a luxury that many people can't afford. The author reports that - with doctors and insurers failing to communicate - the patient is the one who suffers most from fees that grow more crippling every year. |
