| Abstract | Nurses who have received a hospital based education present a challenge to nurse academics in that they are resistant to change. Traditional pedagogic education does little to enchance the development of nurses who are self-directed problem solvers. Transformative education is a means to creating change agents who are able to act autonomously. Such a programme involves a commitment from staff and students. |
