| Abstract | In Hong Kong, an AIDS Clinic was established in 1985 by the then Medical & Health Department for the management of HIV infected patients. Zidovudine was first available for use locally in December 1987. Since 1991, zidovudine has been prescribed to asymptomatic patients with two consecutive CD4 counts below 500/ul. |
