| Abstract | The decision to treat a postmenopausal woman with hormone replacement therapy should be made on an individualized basis. The major indications for treatment are either the presence of acute menopausal symptoms or to provide prophylaxis against the long term risk of developing either osteoporosis or cardiovascular disease. |
