AbstractIn the computer industry where technology in changing rapidly, even Goliaths such as Big Blue are finding the going tough. Uniquely, a trio of Asian entrepreneurs - two Hongkong Chinese and a Pakistani - have confounded the skeptics by taking on the big players and succeeding. The company is AST. The men who founded it are Albert Wong, Safi Qureshey and Tom Yuen, the initials of whose first names - A.S.T. - gave their enterprise its name. AST stock has outperformed its better heeled rivals on the New York Stock Exchange, and its products - particularly its laptop computers - are gaining wide acceptance in the United States, Europe and Asia.
