AbstractThe second half of this century saw the growth of Hong Kong as one of the world's largest shipping centres. It is the work of a few outstanding pioneers. The article examines their background. They are C.Y. Tung, who set up the Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Sir Yu-kong Pao, who found the World-Wide Shipping Group and Frank W.K. Tsao, who established IMC Holdings and is founder of the Wah Kwong Shipping Holdings.
