AbstractEssential hypertension is one of the most common cardiovascular disorders related to stress. The article investigates the application of stretch relaxation training on reduction of blood pressure for three clinical cases of Chinese people with mild essential hypertension. The patients were individually assigned to undergo a four-week relaxation therapy programme. The result showed that blood pressure had lowered from a mild hypertensive level to a normal blood pressure level both after the eighth treatment session and at the thirty day follow-up occasion. The practical significance of stretch relaxation in lowering blood pressure for Chinese patients with essential hypertension is discussed.
