| Abstract | The United Nations has designated the year 1999 to be the International Year of Older Persons and adopted the theme "Towards A Society for All Ages". It is expected that countries all over the world will be aware of the challenges brought by the growing ageing population. The article provides the United Nations Principles for Older Persons formulated to promote a conceptual framework on the theme and a Charter for A Society for All Ages drafted by the American Association of Retired Persons. Also, the population of older persons in Hong Kong is featured. |
