| Abstract | Andre Lee, the former head of Peregrine Fixed Income in Hong Kong, called them "26-year-old snot-nosed Eurofags". Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad called them -- "scum". They are the foreign exchange (forex) and money market traders who control the daily US$1.5 trillion turnover in global foreign exchange markets. The article discusses the forex traders' impacts on the Asian currency markets, including China and Hong Kong, as well as features the reasons why China's currency should be forced to devalue as a direct result of the weakening yen. |
