| Abstract | A Draft Code of Practice for Energy Efficiency of Lift & Escalator Installations was the subject of discussions at two seminars organised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). The subsequent enthusiasm generated among professionals in the industry prompted the Building Services Division of the HKIE and the International Association of Elevation Engineers (Hong Kong-China Branch) to organise a more comprehensive, half-day symposium on 22 January 1999. Supported by the Johnson Controls Intelligent Building Research Centre of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), the aim of the symposium was to present and evaluate some of the measures the code aims to introduce in order to control energy consumption in buildings. |
