AbstractThe article reported a case in which a middle-aged lady with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) from ruptured cerebral aneurysm presented with cardiac arrest secondary to a pulseless ventricular flutter and was successfully resuscitated. Focal neurological sign and non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema were subsequently found during her clinical course suggesting intracranial pathology. The correct diagnosis was however not unmasked until four days after admission. Neurosurgery was performed on Day five but patient finally died of severe cerebral edema. This case report illustrated that ventricular arrhythmias and cardiac arrest should be within the recognized range of clinical presentations of SAH especially in the absence of heart disease. Literature on SAH-triggered ventricular arrhythmias was reviewed.
