| Abstract | Preventive cardiology is a growing subspecialty with recognized significance in the world. Heart disease is a major cause of mortality in Hong Kong, accounting for about 5000 deaths per year. Although modifiable risk factors had been identified for primary and secondary prevention of coronary diseases, the extent to which preventive programmes are conducted is restricted. The article briefly reviews the development of the prevention programmes and suggests ways to prevent cardiovascular diseases. |
