| Abstract | The economic slow-down in Southeast Asia has not had any adverse impact on demand for high-end imported watches in China, but sales in Taiwan have reduced in 1998. In China, sales of imported watches have been stable in 1998, general manager of state-owned organization, Beijing Watch and Spectacles Company (BWSC) in Beijing, China, Zhang Ling said. In Taiwan, sales declined due to high ownership of watches and the general perception that watches are an adornment, general manager of Zong Chong Watch Company Limited in Taiwan, Ying Kung Wei, said.
