Abstract | The article features the Museu de Macau (Museum of Macau) through which Macau's re-examination of its centuries as a Portuguese colony was expressed in the design. The Museum serves as an architectural biography of the enclave: delving into its fine arts as well as its history. The Museu is designed by Carlos Bonina Moreno, the Portuguese-born architect who designed Macau's Museu Maritimo (Maritime Museum). Moreno, under the auspices of his Macanese architectural firm Carlos B Moreno Arcquitectos Associados Lda, is also responsible for the design of other Macau projects such as China Plaza, the Holiday Inn and New World Emperor hotels, and the forthcoming Chinese Foreign Affairs office. |
