Abstract | The article features Wong & Ouyang's plans for Shanghai Central Plaza which are a reassuring move toward preservationist ideals. The guiding concept was to incorporate a turn-of-the-century French administration building into the overall design. Aside from the old building and generous open space, the 7,800 square meter site will incorporate a four-storey shopping centre and a 31-storey office block. The heritage-listed building will be renovated and preserved, doubling as the main entry to the complex and a shopping mall. |
