AbstractChina is one of the world's fastest growing economies, with an average growth of 11.8 percent for the period 1990-95. Retail sales in 1995 almost tripled those of 1990, at 2,000 billion Yuan. In general, textiles represent up to 16 percent of the national retail consumption. Clothing retail sales amounted to 330 billion Yuan, again almost triple those of 1990, reflecting an annual consumption increase of 11 percent over that period taking account of inflation.
