AbstractAmerican textile and apparel manufacturers bought significantly less foreign textile machinery during the first eight months of 1996. Imports through August in 1995 reached US$1,433 million. They are down to $1,097 million in 1996. Among other Asian nations, total exports from Korea, Taiwan and China come to $47 million for 1996 from $46 million through August 1995, and Chinese exports increased from $7 million to $14 million.
