AbstractPrice of Chinese freshwater pearls, after years of decline for most qualities, have stabilized in 1998. Suppliers of Chinese freshwater pearls in Hong Kong said commercial quality pearls are sold at near cost, and further decline is unlikely. But a supplier said stock of medium to low quality pearls in rice and button shapes 4mm to 5mm remains high and prices for these categories continue to be under price pressure. The article features the price, demand, supply, marketing and prospects of Chinese freshwater pearls.
