Abstract | According to the Hong Kong Government statistics, diseases of the circulatory system had become the second most common cause of death after cancer in 1993. The article attempts to determine the mean blood cholesterol level and coronary heart disease (CHD) risk of 154 Chinese patients, who are between the ages of 30 and 60 years, including both sexes and subjects with chronic diseases, attending a family practice in Hong Kong; to explore their knowledge of , and attitudes toward cholesterol as a risk factor; and to examine the relationship between blood cholesterol readings, CHD risk, demographic variables and the knowledge and attitudes regarding blood cholesterol. |
