Abstract | More and more stock trading is done through terminals at traders' premises, leading to calls for the trading floor to be abolished. Unlike major brokers, who have their own offices, some small brokers want to retain the trading floor, which doubles as their offices. The article asks major stock brokers whether the trading floor should be abolished and how the Internet will affect trading. The brokers are Peter Mallinson, Head of Equities, Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC, Alastair Cooper, Head of the Equity Division, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Asian Limited, Mark Graham, Head of Trading, Jardine Fleming Limited, and Patricia Meier, Managing Director-International, Schwab Corporation. |
