Abstract | Conglomerates with enough financial muscle generally have a captive, a subsidiary set up to insure companies within a group. About 3,400 captives are operating worldwide, mostly in tax havens like Bermuda and Cayman Islands. Not to be left out, Hong Kong has started a late bid for the captive pie, pointing out its low tax rate, good infrastructure and proximity to the China market. |
