| Abstract | For centuries Chinese influence has permeated every aspect of Western design. The 21st Century Chinoiserie Exhibition in 1997, organised by Contrasts Gallery, took off from Hong Kong to London and Paris. Now it is poised to take New York by storm, followed by Los Angeles, Singapore and Japan, and coming full circle to Shanghai and Beijing. The article introduces the art pieces created by Mark Brazier-Jones, Franck Evennou and Danny Lane, as well as Paul Clifford, and reveals how Chinoiserie is updated to meet the next millennium. |
