| Abstract | China ordered direct marketers to cease operations as part of an attack on runaway pyramid schemes bilking thousands out of their life savings. Pyramid operations rely almost entirely on recruiting new members, who pay a fee, with little or no revenue from actual selling. After a while the scheme runs out of recruits and collapses. |
