| Abstract | Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Asia used to mean a large local family-owned conglomerate 'selling' one affiliate to another in an asset-shuffling exercise aimed at cashing out of unwanted businesses and duping minority shareholders. Western-style advisory services were both unnecessary and unwanted in such transactions. But the rules of the Asian M&A game have clearly changed. |
