| Abstract | The Cantonese families prominent in Hong Kong in the 20th century enjoyed considerable wealth, but the fame and respect they commanded resulted more from the millions they gave away than from the fortunes they amassed. The article recalls the good deeds of high society's father figures, including Sir Sik-Nin Chau, Fung Kam-chung, Siu Ming, Sir Tang Shiu-kin and their families. |
