| Abstract | Regional pressure on China's exports and currency along with domestic economic stagnation is forcing China's policymakers to concoct a new recipe for growth. With exports slowing and investment ebbing, housing and information technology (IT) are being relied on instead to stimulate growth and employment. And China's healthy external account will help protect the renminbi. But the government is wary that overstretching the banking sector may escalate inflation. |
