| Abstract | Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) is classified as an Alphaherpes virus in the same subfamily as herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 and 2. The VZV virion has a diameter of 150 to 200 nm and contains a lipid envelope surrounding a 100-nm-diameter nucleocapsid which encloses a single copy of double-stranded DNA. In the article, an overview of the disease and the development of Varicella vaccines are presented. |
