| Abstract | Chek Lap Kok will be in a different league from Kai Tak, or most other airports in Asia, a league more appropriate for a city of Hong Kong's international status. This was what justified such a massive project in the first place, and everyone knew that the reclamation, infrasturcture, transport links, engineering, design expertise and construction necessary to achieve this standard would not be cheap. In return, Chek Lap Kok will be able to operate 24 hours a day in all weather conditions, it will have rapid road and rail access to the urban areas, it will be quieter, safer and more efficient. |
