AbstractChina's teledensity continues to grow steadily, topping 7.6 per cent in July 1997. Chongqing and Sichuan are two of the regions of the lowest teledensity in China until 1997. By the end of 1996, a total of 3.74 million public switching lines was attained while 3.39 million telephone subscribers were recruited in Sichuan. The article introduces the telecom infrastructure development in Chongqing and Sichuan. The developments include Network A with equipment supplied by Motorola, Network B supplied by Ericsson, and a global system for mobile communications (GSM) network in Chongqing and Sichuan.
