Abstract | In Hong Kong, over 50 per cent of the total electricity used in the commercial context has been for heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) purposes. The green house effect and ozone layer depletion are deeply related to HVAC technology, as it is one of the principal sources of releasing "unfriendly" materials. Nowadays, energy conservation and indoor air quality (IAQ) are the two main HVAC concerns. This article features the HVAC system installed in Hong Kong. Some new technologies which meet new challenges for HVAC requirements are also introduced. |
