| Abstract | Nelson Chow from the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the University of Hong Kong examines how much is spent in 1996 on the various social services provided for the elderly people and, based on that, looks at our future expenditure on the elderly and see if it will still be within our financial capability. He also examines the many ways in which other countries have financed their social services for the elderly. After a comparison of the different financing methods, some suggestions as to how we can improve our present system of financing the various social services to promote the welfare of the elderly are made. |
