| Abstract | Rapid population growth, new infrastructure development and extensive reclamation work along the coasts have exerted enormous pressure on the marine environment. A healthy marine environment is not just home to millions of plants and animals but also an invaluable asset for man. More conservation effort by Government and green groups is essential. This includes legislation and enforcement, education and public awareness programmes. |
