AbstractOne of Hong Kong's most important industries is tourism. This often-overlooked yet rapidly-growing industry has been a vital contributor to Hong Kong's economic prosperity for many years. Having taken over the number-two spot in the ranks of foreign exchange earners a few years ago, tourism now looks set to overtake its last remaining rival - the garment and textile industry - and take its richly-deserved place as Hong Kong's top earner of foreign exchange and premier industry. In 1995, tourism earned for Hong Kong almost 75 billion Hong Kong dollars.
