| Abstract | Hong Kong's First International Symposium on Marine Conservation gets under way in the territory in October 1996. Speakers will address such concerns as destructive fishing practices, pollution, increasing threats to biodiversity and low levels of enforcement of current legislation to protect the oceans. This article reports that the organizer - the Hong Kong Marine Conservation Society - hopes to make people more aware of their stake in the marine environment and the role they can play in protecting it. |
