AbstractAccording to Kenneth Abeywickrama, consultant for the International Trade Centre (ITC), the key to sales success is marketing instead of production. Abeywickrama stopped over in Hong Kong, en route from the mainland China, where he has been inspecting the local silk industry and assessing the success of the ITC's aid programme. In China's case, this ten-year project is funded by the Dutch Government. It is focused entirely on encouraging silk production and marketing, and it is largely carried out in conjunction with the state-owned body, the China National Silk Import Export Corporation.
