| Abstract | This is a review on the book "Corridors of Power" by Liu Zhenyun. Described variously by Chinese readers as a critical realist, satirist, or champion of the underdog, Liu uses novella and short story format to examine what happens when the trajectory of ordinary lives meets the web of bureaucracy, or traverses the corridors of power. It is a picture, as crudely drawn as its subjects, to tell those in the cities how life can be across the many miles of China's continent. |
