AbstractAn immigration lawyer is calling for the scrapping of a controversial law in section 34 of the immigration ordinance that allows the Immigration Department to jail a person indefinitely without charge. Foreigners who have been required by the department to leave Hong Kong can be held in jail, under the law, if they are needed to give evidence in court or for other reasons.
