| Abstract | The Hong Kong port has experienced dramatic growth rates between 1987 and 1995, unmatched in any region in the world. In 1995, it ranked as the world's busiest port, and in 1996, it topped the list again. In this article, the prospects of Hong Kong and other southern China ports are analysed.
